Education and training programmes are consistent with the requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training and Watchkeeping for Seafearers \u2013 STCW convention and IMO (International Maritime Organization) regulations as well as The Regulation on Requirements for the Award of Ranks and Certification of Seafarers aboard Croatian merchant ships. In addition to this, relevant regulations and codes of the Republic of Croatia and European Union are applied as well. EMERAs\u2019 beneficial competences include internationally competitive education, training, and research and innovation services in the field of shipping, ship\u2019s engineering and refrigeration technology (STCW-78), port and shipping management, logistics, maritime safety and security, marine engineering (small craft building, marine electronics).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project team of EMERA includes of Ms. <strong>Julia Tammela<\/strong>, mathematics lecturer and MareMathics project manager; Ms. <strong>Anna Saksa<\/strong>, head of Centre for General and Basic Studies, and mathematics lecturer; and Ms. <strong>Inga Zaitseva-P\u00e4rnaste<\/strong>, Programme Director of Waterways Safety Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Latvian Maritime Academy &#8211; Latvia<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/maremathics.pfst.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/logo_istais.png\" alt=\"LJA logo\" class=\"wp-image-69\" width=\"163\" height=\"200\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Latvian Maritime Academy (LMA) is the only institute in Latvia that provides higher maritime vocational education. It is founded in 1989. LMA offers higher professional education in the technical areas of navigation, marine engineering, marine electrical automation, ship mechanics and port and shipping management and Masters\u2019 level education in the maritime transport speciality. Latvian Maritime Academy actively participates in the ERASMUS exchange programme. The LMA also has a Research Institute involving multiple working groups of the researchers employed by the Institute and highly qualified academic staff. Since the year 2020 Academy has been involved in over 19 research projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two teachers participate in the ERASMUS+ project MareMathics. Docent <strong>Jelena Li\u0123ere<\/strong> has a doctoral degree in mathematical modelling. Her research interests include mathematical modelling in hydrodynamics. Lecturer <strong>Ingrida Veilande<\/strong> has a master\u2019s degree in elementary mathematics and she has research interests in problem solving methodology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Polish Naval Academy &#8211; Poland<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/maremathics.pfst.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/amw_logo.png\" alt=\"AMW logo\" class=\"wp-image-70\" width=\"186\" height=\"222\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Polish Naval Academy teaches officers and civilian students in 4 Faculties: Navigation and Naval Weapons, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Command and Naval Operations, Humanities and Social Sciences. At PNA students gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The didactic facilities are supported by simulators, multimedia-equipped classrooms, a gym, and modern library, an indoor swimming pool with 8 lanes and with a 5 m deep training pool for divers. Military students are taught in 5 fields: navigation, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, IT, information systems in security. Civilian students have fields to choose from: navigation, IT, mechanical engineering, automatics and robotics, mechatronics, national security, internal security, space-satellite technologies, information systems in security, international relations, and military in the system of public services. PNA offers lots of post-graduate studies the field of which cares the needs of the job market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PNA MareMathics project team consists of 5 persons: dr <strong>Agata Za\u0142\u0119ska-Fornal<\/strong>, dr hab. in\u017c.<strong> Andrzej Grz\u0105dziela<\/strong>, dr <strong>Krzysztof Topolski<\/strong>, mgr in\u017c. <strong>Joanna Szczepankowska<\/strong> and kpt. mar. mgr in\u017c. <strong>Dagmara Broniatowska<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Toni Milun &#8211; Independent Microenterprise &#8211; Croatia<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/maremathics.pfst.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/toni_milun_logo.png\" alt=\"Toni Milun Logo\" class=\"wp-image-90\" width=\"185\" height=\"182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maremathics.pfst.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/toni_milun_logo.png 370w, https:\/\/maremathics.pfst.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/toni_milun_logo-300x295.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 185px) 100vw, 185px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Toni Milun<\/strong> is a Mathematics and Statistics lecturer. He graduated in 1999 from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science, Department of Mathematics. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Rijeka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2011, he started an educational website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tonimilun.hr\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"www.tonimilun.hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.tonimilun.hr<\/a>, with more than 2000 free mathematics lessons for which he was rewarded the \u201cPride of Croatia\u201d Award in 2012 for his special contribution in education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 2013 to 2018 he was a regular guest on the educational TV show called \u201cSchool hour\u201d, aimed at enhancing primary and secondary education in Mathematics.
